Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 2025-04-21
Welcome to VanishNote.me. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our service.
For detailed information about the technology behind our self-destructing notes, please see our About page.
Information We Collect
The only information we directly collect related to the note itself is the encrypted ciphertext you submit. Your note content is encrypted in your browser before it reaches our servers — we never see the plaintext. We do not require user accounts or collect personal identifiers.
Like most websites, our servers may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and operating system for operational and security purposes.
How We Use Information
Encrypted note data is stored temporarily to serve the note to those who possess the unique link, then permanently deleted according to the expiration rules you set. Technical log data is used for maintaining and securing the service.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
VanishNote.me uses minimal cookies required for basic functionality. We do not use cookies for cross-site tracking or detailed analytics.
Advertising
Currently, VanishNote.me does not display third-party advertisements.
Information Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. We do not share note content with third parties, except:
- With service providers who assist in operating the website, under strict confidentiality agreements.
- If required by law, such as in response to a valid legal process.
Data Security
Notes are encrypted client-side (AES-256-GCM) before being stored. The server never has access to the decryption key. No system is 100% secure, but this architecture minimises the risk of data exposure.
Data Retention
Note content is automatically and permanently deleted once the expiration conditions are met. We do not retain backups of deleted notes.
Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
